The American Red Cross urges the public to donate blood or platelets to strengthen the national blood supply, as the potential for winter weather to disrupt blood drives continues.

The American Red Cross urges the public to donate blood or platelets to strengthen the national blood supply, as the potential for winter weather to disrupt blood drives continues.

People of all blood types are urged to give. Especially type O blood donors, the most needed blood group. While thousands have donated in recent weeks to combat the drop in blood supply, more donations are needed to ensure the supply remains ready for those in need of medical procedures.

In thanks for helping, all who donate in February will receive a 20-dollar Amazon gift card by email. Donors can learn how to book an appointment at wsiu.org or by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS.
