After some delays, including flooding and licensing issues, work is proceeding on the Holiday Inn Express Hotel, being built at the intersection of Illinois Routes 13 and 127 in Murphysboro.
When reached by telephone on Tuesday April 28th, 2020, Murphysboro Mayor Will Stephens expressed relief that the project - five years in the making - is progressing with contractors on site.
"I think people had started to think that it wasn't going to happen, but the project is well underway, they are pouring concrete for the floor of the hotel. It's going to be a 75 room Holiday Inn, and we're really excited about it." Murphysboro Mayor Will Stephens.
