An Iowa-based casino company is seeking bids for the construction phase of the Walker's Bluff Casino Resort. Mo Hyder with Elite Casinos Resorts, says contractors are encouraged to attend an informational meeting on Tuesday March 23, 2021, in the Tasting Room of Walker's Bluff starting at 1:30.
"And it's a awesome opportunity for the bidders to meet with the construction management company. We're certainly seeking a wide variety of trades, you have brick layers, you have concrete and asphalt trades, and mill-works, and plumbing and landscaping folks, and electricians."
Hyder says last week the company sought approval from the Illinois Gaming board to accelelerate their project. Hyder adds once approval is given, he says about one thousand construction jobs will be created, and, once the resort is up and running, around 400 permanent jobs will be created. For contractors unable to come to tomorrow's (Tuesday) meeting, you can view the meeting via Zoom. An email from the Illinois Gaming Board says they do not comment publicly on the timelines of specific casino licenses.
