The Next Generation grants support mentorship for at risk youth through public libraries.

Several southern Illinois libraries will receive funding to help at-risk youth.

The Carbondale Public Library, the Anna West Lindsey District Library in Carterville, the El Dorado Memorial Public Library, the Harrisburg District Library, the Marion Carnegie Library, the Sparta Public Library and the Stinson Memorial Public Library District in Anna all received funding through the Next Generation Grant program.

These grants help libraries provide at-risk youth with technology and mentors to help them gain life skills like communication and conflict resolution.

The Illinois Secretary of State's office announced a total of more than 600 thousand dollars in funding for libraries across the state.
