Governor JB Pritzker has signed HB 2488, streamlining the Illinois Equal Pay Act of 2003 by removing outdated federal reporting requirements. The amendment eliminates references to the federal EEO-1 report, which state officials determined offered little value for evaluating pay equity.
“This change ensures consistency and simplifies reporting for employers while maintaining Illinois’ commitment to equal pay,” said Illinois Department of Labor Director Jane Flanagan.
Under the Equal Pay Registration Certificate program, private employers with 100 or more employees must submit wage data to IDOL every two years, certifying that pay for women and minority workers is not consistently lower than for others. HB 2488 formalizes IDOL’s 2023 decision to drop the EEO-1 reporting requirement.
