DePaul University has disbanded its Planned Parenthood Generation Action student chapter, citing its affiliation with an abortion provider—despite no university policies being broken.
The group, active since 2022, says it operated under the political arm, not the health services branch, of Planned Parenthood. Student leaders say the shutdown contradicts DePaul’s social justice mission. Planned Parenthood Illinois Action called the move a “disservice” to student activism and community health.
Students plan to hold a town hall to decide next steps and gather support for reinstatement.
