Unfair Labor Practice filing by West Frankfort School Board

In ongoing negotiations between the West Frankfort Board of Education and teacher's union, the board filed an Unfair Labor Practice complaint on Monday afternoon.

In a release from the district, they say the teacher's union unilaterally declared they were done with mediation. They say the union also ended an agreement to follow ground rules set in May for the negotiations.

The school district's filing follows the filing of an Unfair Labor Practice claim by the union last week. They allege that the district was disorganized, chaotic, unprepared for bargaining, and refused to bargain in good faith.

In response to the School board's Monday filing union President Tim Aldridge says this will create tension and distrust between the parties. "The superintendent and board members should finally work with us in good faith to avoid a strike and reach a fair agreement that puts our students and schools first."

In Monday's release, the Board says they are focused on working at the bargaining table through the collective bargaining process.
