Two Illinois agencies are being sued for failing to provide documents relating to a nuclear contamination lawsuit in Massac County.
According to a news release, plaintiff's attorneys say the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Illinois Emergency Management Agency refused to provide information to Metropolis residents who believe there is contamination from the Honeywell nuclear facility.
Residents are also pursuing a class action lawsuit against Honeywell, which they claim has contaminated large pieces of surrounding land for decades.
The city of Metropolis and Massac County are expected to pass resolutions condemning the agencies' denials and demanding cooperation.
Former Illinois State Senate Majority Leader James Clayborne says the agencies refusal to provide the document requests is unacceptable.
