The Life and Death of a Southern Illinois River Pirate

The front sign of the Saline Creek Pioneer and Village Museum
Ethan Holder

Yesterday, WSIU reported on the Saline Creek Pioneer and Village Museum night at the museum event.

The first stop on the tour featured a trip through the Pauper House.

Visitors were then treated, or maybe tricked, with a look into the life of a river pirate who lived in Southern Illinois.

Tour goers would leave the pirate's life to peer into a jail cell haunted by those who had been held inside.

Tune in to WSIU Radio news or back here on WSIU.org to learn about those who perished in the haunted jail cell of Harrisburg Illinois.
