Illinois State Police say one person is dead following a traffic crash involving 3-semis on Interstate 57.
Troopers say at around 9 a.m. Thursday in the south bound lanes at Mile Post 82, say two of the semis were heading south approaching slowed traffic due to crews working on an overturned vehicle at Mile Post 79.
The driver of the third semi failed to reduce speed and collided with one of the trailers. The driver of the third semi was pronounced dead on the scene by the Jefferson County coroner.
All southbound lanes of I-57 were closed in this area for about seven hours.
No names are being released at this time.
