The Southern Illinois Irish Festival is this Saturday, April 29th at Turley Park from 10am to 6pm. Leah Lerner spoke to Thomas Grant about the upcoming festivities and you can hear the conversation in the link above.
The family friendly event will offer live music all day, food and pints along with a special brew just for the festival. There will be contests for kids that will judge the most freckles or the most read-headed kid. Adults can enter the limerick contest, the hairiest legs or the contest for the best Irish costume. Take pictures with a giant leprechaun and hear bagpipes from different countries.
A special memorial tent will pay tribute to Bryan Kelso Crow, host of Celtic Connections. Hear music from Celtic Connections and remember Bryan's contribution to the SI Irish Festival, Celtic Music and more.
