Residents of the Illinois 58th district will get the chance to make their voices heard.

Senator Paul Schimpf is inviting the public to a town hall meeting in Carbondale on Saturday.

Schimpf says he prides himself on being available to the people he represents.

“Having town halls and interacting with directly with my constituents makes me a better senator.”

Holding town hall meetings gives residents the chance to bring Schimpf’s attention to local issues that are not on his radar yet.

With the district encompassing 8 counties, there’s lots of things going on.

“It is a very diverse district, there are a lot of different equities and I really enjoy trying to bring solutions that are going to represent everybody in what is a very diverse district.

The town hall is free and open to the public.

It starts at 9am on February 2nd at the Carbondale Township Hall.

On Monday February 4th State representatives Terri Bryant, Dave Severin, and Patrick Windhorst are holding a town hall in Marion at the Midwest Event Center.
