Republican candidate for Governor Gary Rabine stopped in Marion Wednesday morning during his downstate tour.
Rabine spent the past two days on a bus tour of down state Illinois ahead of Republican day at the Illinois State Fair in Springfield.
Wednesday morning his first stop was in Marion at the Veterans Airport.
Rabine says if elected he will work to make Illinois more business friendly to compete with surrounding states.
“We've got to bring jobs back to Illinois, and my first objective is to bring 50,000 jobs a year to Illinois. We know we're losing somewhere around that number on an annual basis today. We need to bring 50,000 jobs here to Illinois so that, you know, here in Marion and all of our state of Illinois, we have abundance and opportunity for our kids in the future.”
His campaign platform also includes property tax reform, ending bonus unemployment and restoring public safety.
