Southern Illinois Congressman Mike Bost says the new Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives is the right leader for the job.
The GOP Wednesday elected Louisiana's Mike Johnson as the 56th Speaker of the House.
In a written statement, Bost said Johnson is a consistent conservative who shares his vision for the country.
The Murphysboro Republican said he's happy to get back to work to secure the border to pass conservative spending bills and aid Israel.
Johnson's election as Speaker comes three weeks after the historic ouster of Kevin McCarthy.
