Another candidate will seek Illinois' U.S. Senate seat

Jonathan Dean
Dean for Illinois
Jonathan Dean

A man who describes himself as a young Democratic leader who is dissatisfied with the Democratic elders' inability to confront Republicans is entering the race for Illinois' open U.S. Senate seat.

In his campaign announcement video, Jonathan Dean says he's challenging the three leading Democrats in this race, all of whom have been in elected office, as he puts it, to oversee the rise of Trump.

"I'm running for Senate because we can't afford to wait any longer for our Democratic leaders to get it together. We need leaders who can sell our agenda, relate to people about what's actually important in their own lives, and talk to people like they're real human beings."

Dean also describes himself as a father, lawyer, advocate for survivors of childhood sexual abuse, solar entrepreneur, and adventurer. He says he's no stranger to deeply personal fights for justice and fairness.

The three leading democratic candidates referenced by Dean are Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton and U.S. Representatives Robin Kelly and Raja Krishnamoorthi.

The primary is next March.
