Williamson County authorities say a plane crash Friday afternoon killed one person and seriously injured another.
Williamson County Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Brian Burgess says the call came in just after 4:30pm Friday, to a report of an incident at the Williamson County Regional Airport.
Crews worked for several hours on scene at the end of the airport's north-south runway. The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are expected to arrive in Marion late Friday night or Saturday morning.
Burgess says it's unclear whether the pilot or the passenger of the single-engine aircraft was killed. The other victim was airlifted to a level one trauma center out of state.
Crenshaw Road to the north of the airport was closed to traffic while crews worked the scene nearby. More information may be released on Saturday, after federal investigators arrive and are able to get an initial look at the wreckage.
