This is Public Service Recognition Week which is celebrated the first week of May beginning on the first Sunday of the month. Since 1985, it has been celebrated to honor the people who serve our nation as federal, state, county, local and tribal government employees.
Locally, Liuna Local 773 is hosting a Take Kids Fishing Day at Herrin Park on May 20th from 9am to 1pm. The first 200 kids to register will receive a free fishing pole to keep plus kids and adults will enjoy a free lunch.
