The City of Marion hosts “Third Thursdays at Tower Square” this week. The community is invited downtown for a special night out each month on the Third Thursday from 4 to 7pm. In Carbondale, David Gibson will discuss forensic botany at the Southern Illinois Learning in Retirement meeting on Wednesday, August 16 at 10:30 a.m. Dr. Gibson is a Professor of Plant Biology at SIUC in the School of Biological Sciences. He teaches ecology and botany, including forensic botany, and he has published extensively in these fields. His presentation will draw on his book, “Planting Clues: How Plants Solve Crimes”.
