In Carbondale, Learning in Retirement presents the "The Citizen's Bill of Obligations". Featured speaker, Suzanne Schmitz, will discuss ten obligations identified by Richard Haass, who advised four U.S. Presidents. She will include the list of daily news sources recommended by Haass. The presentation, free and open to the public, will be at Grace United Methodist Church on Tower Road in Carbondale. A coffee and social hour begins at 9:30. Presentation begins at 10:30. Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge is allowing self-guided Discovery Tours October 21, 22 and 29th from 1 to 4pm each day. The restricted portion of the refuge will be open for you to explore. Tours begin at the Wolf Creek Causeway and volunteers will be stationed throughout the tour to answer questions. Call the refuge visitor’s center or visit their facebook page for more details.

 

A concert with world-renown, Russian-Dutch classical guitarist Irina Kulikova at The 560 Music Center’s Pillsbury Theatre is Saturday October 21 at 7:30pm. For her performance, Ms. Kulikova has selected pieces that represent a variety of moods and points in history, from the baroque period to the modern era.
