Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Forced Air Compost Facility will receive the We Compost Award from the Illinois Food Scrap and Composting Coalition during a special event on Thursday, March 6, featuring tours of the facility and a brief presentation. The event, set for 2-3 p.m., at the University Farms facility at 3689 W. Pleasant Hill Road in Carbondale is free and open to the public. Touch of Nature invites you to two full days of family fun at the annual Maple Syrup Festival March 22-23rd. This exciting event has something for everyone, including maple syrup-making demonstrations, guided nature hikes, lumberjack demonstrations, kids’ activities, vendors, artisans, and so much more. Admission to the festival is free, and nearly all activities—like demonstrations, nature hikes, and children’s programming— from 9 AM to 4 PM are included at no additional cost.

Maple Syrup Festival Pancake Breakfast:

A pancake breakfast served from 9 AM to 2 PM, complete with 100% real maple syrup. Tickets for the pancake breakfast can be purchased in advance or onsite at Freeberg Hall. Ages 3 and under are free. https://ton.siu.edu/community-events/maple-syrup-festival.php

Centerstone, in collaboration with the City of Carbondale, is hosting a series of pop-up resource events throughout March to bring essential services and community support directly to residents. These events will provide an opportunity for individuals and families to connect with local organizations, ask questions, and discover resources that can make a difference in their lives.

The pop-up resource tables will be available at the following locations and times:

University Baptist Church (700 S Oakland Ave)
March 7 & 28 | 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Carbondale Police Department (501 S Washington St)
March 11 | 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
