Southern Illinois University Carbondale will celebrate LGBTQ+ History Month this October, with the theme "History, Community, Resilience." A variety of special events that are open to the campus and community are planned.

Beginning October 2, The Saluki Rainbow Network will lead a Pride March from the Communications Building to the kickoff ceremony. The ceremony will take place in the Old Main Room of the Student Center, which will feature various speakers and an overview of the month's events. Famous LGBTQ+ movies will be shown in the John C. Guyon Auditorium throughout the month.

Learning opportunities like the Black N Queer Roundtable and a presentation by Carbondale City Council member Clare Killman are taking place. A Coming Out Social is set for October 11 with crafts, games, music, and food at the Student Service Building Pavilion.
