The work being done by the SIU System on anti-racism, diversity, equity and inclusion was recently highlighted in a story on CNN.
It has been about three years since the SIU Board of Trustees approved a values statement reflecting the SIU commitment to A-D-E-I efforts.
Since that time, there has been a lot of opposition to these types of policies across the country.
Sheila Caldwell is the Vice President for Anti-racism, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at SIU.
In the CNN story, Caldwell said the system has done its best to continue to live up to the goals in its values statement and remains strongly committed to advancing and expanding its A-D-E-I policy in accordance with America's values related to the Constitution, Bill of Rights and Declaration of Independence.
