SIU Summer Camps and Conferences (June 30 - Late July)

Southern Illinois University Carbondale is offering a variety of academic, athletic, art, music, and outdoor camps and conferences this summer. These events provide great opportunities for reporters, photographers, and news crews to capture exciting stories, photos, and videos. Below is a schedule of activities from June 30 through late July, along with contact information for media inquiries.

Art Camps
Art Exploration (July 8-12)

  • For Grades 1-3: 9-11 a.m.
  • For Grades 4-8: 1-4 p.m.
  • Activities: Working with clay, fibers, printmaking, painting, and drawing.
  • Best Times to Visit: 9:30-10:30 a.m. or 1:30-2:30 p.m. at the Craft Shop, Student Center.

Clay Sculptures (July 15-18)

  • For Grades 1-3: 9-11 a.m.
  • For Grades 4-8: 1-4 p.m.
  • Activities: Creating hand-built clay sculptures and painting.
  • Best Times to Visit: 9:30-10:30 a.m. or 1:30-2:30 p.m. July 17-19 at the Craft Shop.

Modern Masters: Drawing and Painting (July 22-26)

STEM Workshop

Rocketry and Avionics Educators Workshop (July 8-11)

  • For: Middle school STEM educators.
  • Activities: Rocket launches, hands-on applications.
