SIU System President Dan Mahony is joining the Board of Directors at Intersect Illinois, the state's economic development organization focused on bringing new jobs and investment to the state.
Joining Mahony as new board members are University of Chicago President Paul Alivisatos and United Airlines President Brett Hart.
Intersect Illinois collaborates with industry, academic and government partners to try to position Illinois as a premier global business destination.
Mahony says joining the Intersect Illinois board is a natural fit for SIU as the university continues its commitment to partner with the state’s workforce innovation leaders.
Mahony recently announced SIU's economic impact in downstate Illinois is around $4 billion annually, supporting more than 45,000 jobs.
