Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s annual Great Glass Pumpkin Patch offers a unique opportunity to appreciate and purchase handcrafted glass pumpkins created by the university’s talented students.
Organized by the SIU glass program, the event showcases the hard work of both undergraduate and graduate students who meticulously design and create each piece.
The sale will feature about 400 pumpkins, ranging in price from $50 to $100.
Since 2006, the event has grown in popularity, drawing nearly 500 attendees from the surrounding region. Each pumpkin is one-of-a-kind, reflecting the creativity and craftsmanship of the students involved.
In addition to providing visitors with the chance to purchase these unique items, the event helps raise funds to support the glass program and future student projects.
While credit card payments are now accepted, event organizers recommend paying by cash or check to ensure faster transactions during the busy morning.
The sale offers an opportunity for community members and collectors to own beautiful, handcrafted art pieces that are perfect for fall décor or gift-giving.
The sale will be held on the lawn between Pulliam Hall and the Wham Education Building from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 12
