The SIU Carbondale Paulette Curkin Pride Resource Center and the Women's Resource Center are hosting the SIU Women's Film Festival next week.
The film screenings and discussions, which are free and open to the public, are part of the university's celebration of Women's History Month.
Six women and LGBTQ+ community-centered movies will be shown at the Guyon Auditorium in Morris Library on Monday and Tuesday, March 17 and 18.
Monday, March 17:
10 a.m. - "Desert Hearts" (1985), presented by Paulette Curkin, Kathleen Gallivan and Deb Endres
3 p.m. - "Alma's Rainbow" (1994), presented by Mackenzie Gaines and Dina Timmons
6 p.m. - "Chicana/ A Crushing Love" (1979/2009), presented by Michelle Soto
Tuesday, March 18:
1 p.m. - "Microhabitat" (2017), presented by Qiyu Chen and Casey Tilley
3:30 p.m. - A collection of short films by Heather O-Brien-Takahashi, assistant professor, cinema
5:30 p.m. - "Framing Agnes" (2022), presented by Angela Nuzum, Juniper Oxford, Jennifer Hines, and Heather O'Malley.
