SIU Carbondale's training program for counselors to treat adults with complex trauma is holding a second training session this Friday.

Through demonstrations and role-play activities, participants will learn affective therapy approaches, skills, and resources to help treat their clients.

The Coffman and Crothers Training program session will feature a presentation by Janna A. Henning, a licensed clinical psychologist and incoming president of the American Psychological Association's trauma division.

The workshop aspect of the program will focus on differentiating the unique set of symptoms associated with chronic physical, emotional, or psychological abuse, particularly during sensitive developmental periods.

The Coffman-Crothers training program is free for students using the code "student" and $45 for other attendees. Box lunches are included.

Pre-register online today by emailing mcrother@siu.edu or through the SIU Clinical Center website.
