Due to the winter storm, Southern Illinois University Carbondale will be closed on Monday, 1/26/26, starting at 6 am. At this time, SIU will reopen at 6 am on Tuesday, 1/27/26.
The Emergency Operations Center monitors weather conditions. This is an administrative closure. All classes (face to face, hybrid and online) will be canceled and will not be delivered remotely. Residence halls, residential dining, and the Rec Center will be open, as will the Department of Public Safety. All other campus buildings and offices will be closed.
The University will continue to monitor the weather forecast and road conditions and provide updates on campus operations, as necessary.

-Residential dining centers will be open 11 a.m. – 8 p.m.
-The Rec Center will be open from 1 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Sunday and noon to 8pm on Monday.
Jackson County Mass Transit 618-549-0304 will determine operational hours for buses.
Grounds workers will be clearing sidewalks, steps, and parking lots as weather conditions permit. Avoid unnecessary travel, and please use extreme caution as you move about campus.
