FOOTNOTES:  I ordered a two-pound fruitcake in a tin.  Thanks to so many of you who jumped right in and sent your suggestions.   I opted for one from Assumption Abbey, Ava, Missouri, where Trappist monks in a small monastery bake a perfect balance between, cake, nuts, fruit and rum.  Jean Kane of Kissimmee, Florida, widow of Dr. Dan Kane, suggested this one with rave reviews from her family.

SNAPSHOTS:  Teresa Collins is one of the senior adult artists who painted the magic on downtown windows in The Herrin Drugs block. Lovely.

Nice to see families strolling on Park Avenue to see lighted windows and take pictures beside the huge tree on the corner of West Monroe and North Park Avenue on The First Southern Bank location.

Fingers crossed Frenchman’s Widow is in our midst again.  Cynde Bunch says, “It will open.” People passing see lights on as the restaurant prepares to host a soft opening its doors, the corner of West Monroe and North l6th.  It was once Berra's Tavern until Cynde and David Bunch purchased and restored the building.  Seating on top and main level.
