The Illinois Department of Public Health is celebrating 2025 Pride Month by highlighting programs that support the LGBTQIA+ community statewide. This includes a new standing order allowing pharmacists to provide HIV prevention meds like PrEP without a doctor’s visit, and easier updates to birth records with gender markers M, F, or X.
IDPH will also march in this year’s Chicago Pride Parade on June 29 under the theme “United in Pride.”
Director Dr. Sameer Vohra says Pride Month is about unity and ensuring everyone can live authentically. The department is also training staff and partners in culturally sensitive care.
