Members of the Taylorville VFW Riders after donating $50,000 to This Able Veteran.

A central Illinois motorcycle club has donated money from a fundraiser to help a southern Illinois service dog organization that benefits military veterans suffering from PTSD.

The Taylorville VFW Riders recently presented officials at This Able Veteran in Carbondale with a 50-thousand dollar check from a Poker Run this past summer.
The motorcycle club's president De Jay Devore says they were about 18-thousand dollars short of the goal before the Poker Run, but everything came together on the day of the ride.

"We had the best weather. 70-degree weather...71, 72. No wind, nice sunny day, hardly any humidity and a total of 207 motorcycles that showed up. Altogether, we had a little over 400 people sign up for the Poker Run."

Officials with This Able Veteran say the 50-thousand dollar donation is enough money to cover the training of two service dogs to be placed with two veterans.
