The St. Louis Area Foodbank wants to distribute 10 million meals across the region by setting up Mobile Food Markets.
The Cambria Food Pantry usually helps over 100 households a month.
Co-manager Gayla Pottorff says those number have gone up since the stay at home order.
“We have seen an increase of about 30, 40 households.”
They used to distribute once a month at the pantry.
Now they’ve added a Mobile Food Market at the Cambria Christian Church with help from the St. Louis Area Foodbank.
“They bring that in we unload it and now we just have the people, they will drive through the parking lot at the church with their trunk open and we just chuck the stuff in.”
Pottorff says the 4 pallets of food at the mobile market only last about 2 hours before it's gone.
