Volunteers were busy at the Newman Center in Carbondale preparing meals for Thanksgiving.
The Newman Center usually DRAWS hundreds or Thanksgiving DINNER.
To comply with COVID-19 restrictions the event is to go only.
Volunteers are spending the week making and packaging individual servings for Thursday.
Organizer JP Dunn says they’ve they had to make some changes for this new format.
“The desserts we scaled back on of course, but everything else we actually scaled up on, because we expected there would be more of a need this year for the basic meal, the turkey, dressing, I think a lot of people will order the meal from us and then fix a couple of sides on their own at home.”
Dunn encourages anyone that wants a Thanksgiving meal to use the curbside pick-up in the north parking lot.
