One death has been confirmed in Missouri, and possibly two more in Illinois, after an apparent tornado swept across the Show Me state and Illinois Tuesday.
Perry County, Missouri Clerk Jared Kutz says one person was killed and eight to 10 homes near the town of Perryville were badly damaged when the storm hit around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. Several cars and trucks were blown off of Interstate 55.
Meanwhile one person is confirmed dead near Crossville in White County, and another was killed in the northern Illinois community of Ottowa.
Multiple homes and buildings are damaged or destroyed, and emergency crews say some areas may experience flooding and other travel issues as the storms move out of the region.
Emergency crews and National Weather Service teams will be out across the region Wednesday, assessing damage and helping with cleanup and recovery efforts.
