A co-owner of the new Walker's Bluff Casino and Resort has died.

David Bunch's family announced on social media he died unexpectedly on Wednesday.

Bunch and his wife Cynde built Walker's Bluff more than a decade ago on the border of Jackson and Williamson County. The venue grew to include a restaurant and tasting room, along with the vineyard.

Earlier this year, the family joined Governor JB Pritzker and other business partners in breaking ground on a new casino and resort at Walker's Bluff, which is scheduled to open in 2023.

Services for David Bunch have not yet been announced.

Jennifer Fuller joined Capitol News Illinois in July 2023 as the organization’s broadcast director. She will oversee the launch and operations of CNI’s new broadcast division.
