The SIU Foundation Women's Leadership Council has partnered with Legence Bank to create a $500 EmpowerHER Community Grant. The grant is a new addition to The 2024 Saluki Women's Weekend, "Saluki Sisterhood: Empowering Today, Inspiring Tomorrow."
The EmpowerHER Grant aims to empower rising female entrepreneurs by providing financial resources and a unique platform for showcasing their businesses. "We are looking for female applicants who have innovative ideas, want to be a part of the job creation, and want to have a thriving business to help provide economic growth in the Southern Illinois region", says Tricia Overturf, Legence Bank Vice President of Marketing and Communications.
Recipients will have the opportunity to showcase their products and services during the 2024 Saluki Women's Weekend Women Empowerment Conference. Legence Bank Executive Vice President General Council, Gloria Tison, is a member of the Women's Leadership Council Board of Directors and believes the grant directly supports the council's mission. "We felt that this just really pairs very well with the mission of the council, which is to empower change and to provide mentorship time opportunities for women. Inviting the grant recipients to showcase their businesses at the conference is a wonderful opportunity for them to network with other successful women and to discover mentorship opportunities," says Tison.
The EmpowerHER Community Grant will award two $500 grants to local, women-owned businesses.
-Applications are due by August 30th.
-The top 5 candidates will be notified by September 6th.
