SIH St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro is celebrating a national nursing honor.
For the second time, the hospital has been awarded the Pathway to Excellence designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
The program highlights hospitals that prioritize nurse empowerment, inter-professional decision-making and a culture of quality, safety and ethical care.
According to the ANCC, achieving this designation once is an incredible accomplishment. Earning it twice demonstrates a sustained commitment to creating an exceptional culture.
Nurses at Pathway-designated hospitals report greater job satisfaction, reduced burnout and an enhanced sense of autonomy. For patients, the benefits are equally significant. A supportive and empowered nursing workforce leads to better communication, improved care outcomes and heightened patient safety.
In a statement, chief nurse executive, Johnna Smith, says this achievement is the collaborative effort of the hospital's leadership and nursing staff as well as a testament to their dedication.
