Southern Illinois University Breaks Ground On Saluki Way

By Emily Ford

Carbondale, IL – Southern Illinois University Carbondale is moving forward with its Saluki Way project.
Top officials like President Glenn Poshard, Chancellor Sam Goldman, and Athletic Director Mario Moccia gathered today for a groundbreaking ceremony near the SIU arena.
Moccia said Saluki Way would not be possible if not for the hard work of many people.
The ceremony today signaled the start of phase one of the project which includes a new football stadium and renovations to the arena.
Phase one is scheduled to be completed for the 2010 and 2011 seasons.
So far 70-million dollars have been raised for Saluki Way, with a goal to raise 13 million more to cover the total cost of the project.
