Carbondale, IL – The City of Carbondale Police Department and the SIUC Department of Public Safety are taking applications for the 2009 Citizens Police Academy.
The 12-week class begins next week. It will be taught by Carbondale and SIUC Police Officers. Topics to be covered include investigations, crime scenes, drugs, traffic stops, and more.
SIUC Department of Public Safety Officer Scott Miller says the goal is to increase the knowledge of each participant on how the local police departments operate.
The first class starts on Tuesday and will meet every Tuesday from 6-9 p.m for 12 weeks. Anyone 18 or older can apply. The application deadline is Monday.
