Chicago, IL – The top ten consumer complaints filed last year with Attorney General Lisa Madigan's office reflect tough economic times.
Of the more than 31-thousand complaints the attorney general's office received in 2009...the most had to do with consumer debt.
Madigan says in many of the cases...the calls were from people having trouble paying their mortgages.
Additional consumers reported problems with collection agencies and high interest rates on their credit cards.
Other complaints on the top ten list include identity theft...home construction scams and trouble with phone and cable companies.
