Kate Miller-Heidke In Concert

A classically trained soprano, Kate Miller-Heidke was once headed toward a career in the Australian opera scene. But she made a stylistic swerve and instead decided to utilize her powerful, theatrical voice in the service of unabashed pop songs. She describes her music as experimental, hooky and "unashamedly pop."

The singer-songwriter and pianist played in several Brisbane bands before going solo in 2002 and releasing her debut EP, Telegram, in 2004. Later, her debut full-length, 2007's Little Eve, went gold and was nominated for multiple ARIA Awards.

Miller-Heidke often collaborates with her husband, Keir Nuttall; one of their songs, "Caught in the Crowd," won them the grand prize in the 2008 International Songwriting Competition. Her most recent album, co-written with Nuttall, is called Curiouser. Click the link above to hear Miller-Heidke perform a concert at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia.
