Marion Woman Stabbed to Death

By AP/Palmer

Marion, IL – Police say the woman found dead inside a Marion home this week was the same woman wounded in a domestic shooting two years ago.

Marion police investigators say they found the body of thirty-seven-year-old Tina Pickens late Wednesday after someone reported she hadn't shown up for work. Authorities say she had been stabbed several times.

Although no one has been arrested in connection with Pickens' death, 47-year-old Patrick Williams was arrested Thursday in Carbondale for violating the conditions of his bail. He is described as Pickens's boyfriend and had been arrested several times for domestic battery and violating court orders.

Police say Pickens' death is unrelated to violence in the home in September 2008, when her then-husband Harry Schauf Jr. shot Pickens and wounded a Marion officer who responded.

Schauf was convicted a year ago of aggravated battery and is serving a 50-year prison term.
