Springfield, IL – Illinois' public libraries can help develop local businesses.
U.S. Senator Dick Durbin recently obtained a $300,000 grant through the Small Business Administration for "business packages" that Secretary of State Jesse White will administer to applying Illinois libraries.
The packages include equipment, software, and training videos to assist small businesses and entrepreneurs in local communities.
Criteria for awarding the packages include local unemployment rate and proximity to and cooperation with a Small Business Development Center, Service Corps of Retired Employees office, or chamber of commerce.
Public libraries can apply for the packages by contacting the Illinois State Library and completing the "Interest Indicator Survey" on the Secretary of State's website.
