Du Quoin, IL – Organizers are expecting larger than average crowds at this year's DuQuoin State Fair.
Illinois' second state fair, got underway over the weekend. For 89-years thousands have descended on Du Quoin to take in another celebration of the state's agricultural history.
Fair Assistant Manager Norm Hill says last year the DuQuoin State Fair lost about 100-thousand dollars. But, he says he thinks this year's grandstand line-up will draw more people than it has in years past.
Josh Turner opened the fair over the weekend. Hill says the DuQuoin State Fair generates about 8-million dollars for the southern Illinois economy.
The fair runs through Labor Day.
