Sidnee Stephens' Half-Sister Pleads Guilty to Lesser Charge

By AP

Pinckneyville, IL – A half-sister of a teenager killed in southern Illinois is free after pleading guilty to a lesser count alleging she obstructed the investigation and was credited for time she's already spent jailed.

Dakota Wall pleaded guilty Thursday in Perry County to a misdemeanor count of obstructing a peace officer in the probe of the June 2010 killing of 15-year-old Sidnee Stephens of Pinckneyville. Wall had faced a felony charge of obstructing justice.

Authorities say Stephens' shot body was found by a creek.

One suspect, 19-year-old Carl Dane, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and was found dead in his jail cell in August on the day he was to begin a 60-year sentence.
Two other suspects have pleaded not guilty and await trial on charges of murder, kidnapping and home invasion.
