Springfield, IL – Illinois is receiving top marks for its efforts to stop drunk driving.
Illinois is one of only five states who earned five stars...the highest ranking...in Mothers Against Drunk Driving's latest report.
MADD and Secretary of State Jesse White note the use of breath alcohol ignition interlock devices to prevent drunk driving.
White says the devices must be installed if drunk drivers want to regain limited driving privileges.
White says other, tougher state laws have also helped lower DUI fatalities in Illinois. They crack down on drivers who are extremely drunk...are repeat offenders...and those who drive intoxicated with kids in the car.
