Former Menard Prison Warden Demoted

By Associated Press

Belleville, IL – A southern Illinois prison warden was photographed on a fishing trip while on disability, and he's now been transferred to a lesser position at a smaller lockup.

The Belleville News-Democrat reports Dave Rednour no longer oversees the maximum-security Menard Correctional Center in Chester. Illinois Department of Corrections spokeswoman Stacey Solano says Rednour now is assistant warden for programs at the
medium-security Pinckneyville Correctional Center.

The photo showing Rednour fishing in 2009 with then-State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias prompted a state investigation because Rednour was out of work on temporary total disability. Workers on such status are supposed to refrain from strenuous activity.

Rednour declined through an intermediary to discuss the matter.
