Suspect Arrested in 2011 Marion Murder Case

Southern Illinois authorities have made an arrest in a year-old murder investigation.
The Williamson County State's Attorney's Office issued an arrest warrant for 25-year old Dominique Smith of Marion.  Smith is charged in connection with the July 2011 shooting death of 46-year old Marcus Monroe.
Monroe was fatally injured during an altercation at Pips 2 Bar on Boyton Street in Marion.   Monroe was airlifted to an Evansville hospital where he later died of his injuries.

Marion Police say Smith was identified as s suspect following an extensive investigation.   The Southern Illinois Enforcement Group located Smith Monday at an undisclosed location in Jackson County.   Smith is being held in the Williamson County Jail on a one million dollar bond.
