For people who are experiencing a loss, the holiday season can be anything but festive

For many, the holidays are a time of happiness. However, for those dealing with a loss, the holidays can only make the grief worse.

Kala Hight, is a Licensed Professional Counselor with Centerstone, and she says it's important to keep in mind, getting over grief is different for everyone.

"Not everyone is going to have the same cookie-cutter reaction to grief, or the holidays. So I think it's important to know that people are going to be coming from different places emotionally especially if they're grieving."

Hight adds it's important for hosts of Christmas events to take a non-judgemental approach if a family member or a friend, is not celebrating as much.
