Illinois Governor JB Pritzker talks about his proposed temporary freeze on the gas tax, at Pepsi MidAmerica on Monday February 7, 2022.

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker says he is hopeful the recent court order by a judge in Sangamon county voiding the mask mandate , will be reversed soon.

During a stop in Marion Monday, Pritzker says the mask mandate is one of several steps designed to simply save lives and keep commerce flowing.

"The point of the mitigation is to keep the significant sickness down, and to keep our schools open and to keep our businesses open. Across the state, masks are just one of several tools that we have used."

The Governor added an appeal is going on now, and he is hoping the temporary restraining order stopping the mask mandate, will be overruled as soon as possible.
